Today racing started at 9h30
because because stronger winds caused by a low pressure system over Ireland
would arrive in the early afternoon. But the delicious biscuits La Trinitaine
quickly gave me the punch required. First I want to congratulate the SNT for the
way they organize the whole thing from start to finish. Too bad but
we went left though right was slightly favoured which put us back in the pack at
the top mark. We held on to this during the rest of the race and finished
somewhere in the early twenties.
Race 2 was in medium conditions,
we had good speed coming of the port end of the line, we tacked on starboard
along with Le Glide and crossed the whole fleet. We sailed far to the right but
the fleet converged at the very crowded top mark, needless to say this means a
lot of yelling! We had a very good downwind leg, we went far right and sailed
towards the pressure at the layline. We finished 14th.
For race 3 we barely made it to
the line in time because we were switching our gennaker from starboard to port.
Fernando, our helmsman took a perfect start, at speed on port tack at the right
hand side of the line. We immediately tacked right which was not so good because
at the upwind mark the whole pack almost crossed clear ahead of us. During the
run and the next beat we gybed and tacked to try to regain what we had lost. We
overtook a couple of boats but finished in the early twenties. This places us at
5"rd in the provisional ranking.
Tonight it's free beer and Kieler
Sprotten, that's fish and has nothing to do with a rotten keel, offered by the
German NCA to give us a taste of what the worlds 2008 in Kiel will be like.
